Proctology

Anorectal conditions are extremely common, highly treatable and, in Ms. Murray's clinic, discussed as openly and calmly as a sore shoulder. Bowel control difficulties, obstructed defecation and pelvic floor dysfunction profoundly affect quality of life, yet most sufferers never seek help. Ms. Murray works at University College London Hospitals, a high-volume centre for functional bowel and pelvic floor conditions, alongside neurogastroenterologists, anorectal physiologists, physiotherapists and urogynaecologists. For many people with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, surgery becomes part of the journey. Done well and at the right time, it can transform quality of life. Ms. Murray is one of three IBD surgeons at University College London Hospitals, one of the highest-volume IBD centres in the country, which takes the most complex referrals from across the UK.
